Rowton Hall

Rowton has history – a civil war battle took place in its grounds in 1643 – but today, whilst you’ll find references to its past in the names of its rooms, Rowton Hall is all about being a welcoming wedding venue in grand surroundings. We had already experienced their friendly atmosphere when we met Jess and Mike there for some pre-wedding photographs in the beautiful grounds.

Jess and Mike had chosen Rowton Hall for their wedding reception after a church ceremony nearby. The Georgian manor house is only a few minutes from Chester, but tucked away in its secluded grounds, you would hardly know its there. Guests arriving at the grand entrance were greeted by friendly staff in attendance with Pimms, and ushered into the conservatory and intimate walled garden. Music was playing and adults were able to relax whilst the children ran around. It was an ideal time for reportage photography as well as group shots that Jess and Mike had requested.Newly married couple arrive at Rowton Hall

When it was time for the wedding breakfast, Jess and Mike made their entrance into the grand and romantic ballroom. This room can accommodate up to 130 guests, but larger parties are able to put a marquee in the garden, whilst for smaller weddings there is the choice of the Inglenook room or Adam lounge.  Rowton pride themselves on their locally sourced fine dining, with many ingredients being grown at the Hall.  They would probably agree with Virginia Woolf:

One cannot think well, love well, sleep well if one has not dined well.

After the speeches we went for a stroll with the newly-weds, and made use of some of the 8 acres of gardens for some portrait photographs that captured Jess and Mike’s personalities and their happiness together.  In the meantime the hard-working staff had transformed the ballroom for the evening entertainment, but before the first dance and fun started we couldn’t resist photographing them in that magnificent oak-panelled hallway. And if anyone had any energy left the next day they could  make use of the hotel’s gym, pool or tennis courts – or alternatively just relax and doze in the spa!

If you are considering Rowton Hall for your wedding you can go for a look round with or even without an appointment; the staff at this Cheshire country house will always find time to show you around.  And don’t forget to give us a call or drop us an email, we would love to hear your plans.
