If you are looking for a wedding venue with a mix of contemporary sophistication, traditional elegance and style the Chester Grosvenor could be just right for you. Owned by the family of The Duke of Westminster this 5*hotel is situated on Eastgate at the heart of the historic city – so don’t be surprised if your confetti photographs attract attention from passers-by! And of course, if you are looking for a church ceremony, Chester Cathedral is only a stone’s throw away.
To get a feel for this luxury venue, why not treat yourself to a light lunch in the Parisian atmosphere of La Brasserie, or enjoy one of several versions of Afternoon Tea. (Grooms-to-be take note: the Afternoon Tea for Gentlemen comes with doorstep sandwiches and chunky chips!)
Whether you have 2 or 240 guests, the Chester Grosvenor pride themselves on bespoke service. Wedding packages are a starting point for you to personalise, but pampering in the Spa and a luxurious bedroom come as standard. There are three modern wedding suites, but EmmaJane and Grant chose the beautiful Drawing Room with its traditional décor. After EmmaJane’s bridal entrance down the grand staircase we loved capturing the intimate cosiness of this room in photographs of their ceremony.
A city with history
A short chauffeur-driven car ride around the historic surroundings gave the newly-weds chance to be alone together, and then they returned to a red carpet greeting and confetti. Afterwards, guests chatted and enjoyed canapés on the spacious first floor landing whilst champagne flowed. The space is perfect for an intimate drinks reception, whilst the impressive chandelier forms a dramatic feature. A feature of all buildings of this type is that the ambient light levels are low, so as a contrast we took the opportunity to find window light in a nearby suite for some relaxed photographs of the happy bride and her friends.
Then it was time for the wedding breakfast. The Chester Grosvenor offers 5 star cuisine from menus designed by Michelin starred Chef, Simon Radley. This is an unashamedly luxurious venue; notable guests have included Princess Diana and the Queen has visited too. It is may not be ideal for large numbers of young children, but if a 5* experience and service is important for you and your guests, The Chester Grosvenor is a wonderful Cheshire wedding venue.
We hope you enjoy these photos of EmmaJane and Grant, and if you are thinking of the Chester Grosvenor for your wedding and would like to know more, please do get in touch.
