Welcome to Jim Whitham Photography. That’s actually Jim and Carolyn, experienced wedding photographers, passionate about artistic documentary photography and fine art wedding albums.
Your wedding is going to be amazing, a beautiful celebration of love, laughter, and new families. No two are the same; you’ll bring your own special character to the day – and that’s what we love to photograph. You won’t end up with thousands of random snapshots – we look for images that capture the unique feel of your wedding and your personalities, and create beautiful, timeless, photographs.
That means we’ll be a big part of your day without dominating it. Sometimes we’ll feel like a friend, sometimes a piece of the background and sometimes professionals, lightly directing – but we are never paparazzi with long zoom lenses. We shoot in the thick of the action, but with small, discreet Leica cameras. You and your guests can relax, and enjoy all the fun of your wedding day, whilst we can capture creative images that still feel intimate and real.
What happens to all these photographs in the digital age we live in? What do we do with them? It may sound a bit old-fashioned, but we still believe in printed photographs as a permanent visual legacy. Yes, you will have a USB stick, but photographs carefully placed to tell a story, and beautifully printed in albums of the highest quality are at the heart of what we do.
We live in Manchester and are lucky to work with couples in Cheshire, the Wirral and Lancashire, areas blessed with wonderful wedding venues. Maybe you long for the grandeur of a country house – the ornate rooms of Thornton Manor, the Edwardian elegance of Inglewood Manor, the expansive gardens of Rowton Hall. Perhaps you are looking for the romance of the 5 star Hillbark Hotel or the modern luxury of Mere Golf Resort. Or do you prefer the Lancashire countryside setting of Eaves Hall and West Tower, the charm of Bartle Hall or the rural welcome of the old-fashioned Inn-at-Whitewell? Wherever your wedding will be, we would be honoured to be there with you. As well as many of the leading venues across Cheshire and Lancashire, we’ve photographed weddings from Wales and the Lakes to the South of France and love new experiences.
Do have a look at our portfolio and blog to find out more about our work and approach, and most importantly, see whether we are the right photographers for you and your wedding.
